CLEMMONS — While school may be starting to wind down for the holidays and the weather is getting colder, things are just heating up for the middle of the school year in the village.

Titan athletics have certainly been hot as of late, with the boys varsity basketball team taking a big win over Atkins on the road 86-50 on Dec. 1. They also faced Western Guilford on Dec. 5 on the road and await their next opponent in Parkland, hosting the Mustangs on Dec. 15. The girls varsity basketball team also took a win over Atkins on the road 49-33 on Dec. 1, and precede the boys’ game against Parkland on Dec. 15.

The boys varsity wrestling team’s next opponent is also, coincidentally, Parkland. They visit the Mustangs tonight, Dec. 7. The girls varsity wrestling team will host their next match next week on Dec. 12. The varsity swim team faces off against R.J. Reynolds and Mount Tabor in their next meet tomorrow, Dec. 8, and then will compete with Tabor and Reagan on Dec. 15.

This past weekend, the varsity cheerleading team won the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) State Championship for the 2023 season. This is the Titans’ third state championship win in four years. With the disappointment of coming runner-up to Weddington by less than a point last year, the girls reclaimed the number one title this year and will now get the chance to represent North Carolina at Nationals in February once again. Congrats to everybody involved.

It’s time to get festive in the village. Next week, the final week before winter break (Dec. 11-15), the Student Government Association (SGA) is hosting a second Spirit Week, this one holiday-themed. Monday is Movie Monday, where students are encouraged to dress like their favorite holiday movie character; Tuesday is “TWho’sday,” where students should dress like their favorite Grinch character; Wednesday is Pajama Day; Thursday is Santa’s Workshop Day, where it is encouraged to dress like elves, reindeer or any other creatures that help around the North Pole, and Friday is “Sleigh The Day,” or Ugly Sweater Day.

Rock your favorite holiday look to help spread some cheer around campus. Many clubs are also having holiday socials next week, so make sure to check in to see if your group is doing anything to have some festive fun.

Have a great last week, Titans.
