LEWISVILLE — On Monday, Jan. 8, 2024 at 6 p.m., the public is invited to join the Lewisville Historical Society at its membership meeting at the Mary Alice Warren Community Center, located at 7632 Warren Park Drive.
The program will be “Union Regiments in North Carolina During the Civil War: A Little-known Story.”
Did you know that at the start of the American Civil War, both Union and Confederate regiments were formed in the border states and later behind Confederate lines? Using the records of the National Archives, Bill Ewalt, local historian, has researched the individual soldier’s files of each regiment and their associated pension index files. He will present a summary of his findings and answer the question: Union regiments in North Carolina?
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Call 336-766-5842 for more info. Co-sponsored by the Lewisville Historical Society and the Lewisville Branch Library.
