CLEMMONS — Justin Sommerville was recognized on March 20 as the Rotary Club of Clemmons Student of the Month for March 2024.

Sommerville has a GPA of 4.11.

According to Sean Sandag, Sommerville’s school counselor, “Justin is navigating high school like few he has seen in his career as a counselor. He is making the most of his opportunities in high school by selecting a course plan that is meaningful to him. Not only has he excelled in some of the most rigorous coursework our district offers, he is also completing several courses in technology and programming through dual enrollment at Forsyth Tech that he has never seen students pursue before.”

Sandag said that Sommerville will graduate with many college credits and tech certifications.

“In addition to his academic rigor, he will be able to show colleges and employers he has hard skills he acquired through his computer and technology coursework,” Sandag said. “It is impressive the way he uses these skills in technology to give back to his community. Justin built the Clemmons Civic Club website from the ground up and continues to manage it. He also helps the Clemmons Food Pantry and Clemmons Kiwanis as he maintains their websites.”

Sandag also credited Sommerville’s extensive volunteer work.

“Justin continuously gave his time freely throughout high school volunteering for various organizations like Trinity Elm Rehab and jumping in to help at events such as the Clemmons Rotary Club’s Hand-in-Hand event,” Sandag said. “As the service chair for the Interact Club at West Forsyth, he is consistently focused on making an impact in his community and finding ways to give back. Justin is a compassionate and talented student with a very bright future ahead of him.”

Sommerville hopes to attend High Point University and major in computer engineering, computer science in software development, computer programming, software engineering, game design, AI or cybersecurity.
