This monthly family film series focuses on books that were adapted into films and vice versa. The companion book for May’s film is “Wish” by Barbara O’Connor. Snacks are welcome.

Take & Make Crafts for Kids

Builders’ Club 

• Wednesday, May 22 at 4 p.m.

• Lewisville Branch Storytime Room

The Lewisville Branch Builders’ Club meets the third Wednesday of every month. Bring your creative building skills and come play. Many building supplies, including LEGOs, K’Nex and more, will be available. All ages welcome.

STEAM for Tweens  

• Wednesday, May 8 at 4:30 p.m.

• Lewisville Branch Storytime Room

Ages 8-12. Explore science, technology, engineering, art and math in our STEAM programs. Registration is required. To register, call 336-703-2940.

Dungeons & Dragons Meetup Group  

• Most Mondays from 3-5 p.m.

• Lewisville Branch Multipurpose Room

Ages 13-17 recommended, but all are welcome. Have you ever wanted to learn to play Dungeons & Dragons? Are you an experienced player who would like a place to meet up and have adventures? Join the Lewisville Branch Dungeons & Dragons meetup group. An experienced Game Master will be on hand to teach those who want to learn, and character sheets and dice will be provided.

Hook and Loop Group 

• First Wednesdays at 11 a.m.

Come and join yarn crafters who like to knit, crochet, embroider and such. Share each other’s company and maybe a tip or two about a project. Bring your own project to work on or use some simple supplies and patterns that will be on hand. All skill levels are welcome.

Yoga for Beginners 

• First and third Thursdays at noon

• May 2 and 16

Help uplift your mind and body with yoga classes facilitated by local yoga instructor Tracy O’Neill of YogaCentrix. Sponsored by the Friends of the Lewisville Library. Signed waiver required.

Tuesday at Two Book Club

Eldercare Series: Understanding Trauma and PTSD in Older Adults 

• Saturday, May 8, from 10-11 a.m.

Over 50 percent of adults have experienced a trauma in their lifetime. Up to 4 percent of older adults are living with post-traumatic stress disorder. In this session you will learn about the causes and symptoms of PTSD and treatments available to address it. This is part of a series of programs on eldercare presented by the Geriatric Adult Specialty Team (GAST) of Partners Health Management. GAST is charged with increasing the community’s knowledge and understanding of mental health and substance use issues facing older adults. These programs are for the general public as well as for caregivers and those working in care centers needing continuing education credits. Registration is requested. Books for Dudes Book Club

Are you a dude who likes to read? Are you a dude who is curious what other dudes are reading? Are you a dude who wants to get back into reading, but doesn’t know where to start? Then the Lewisville Branch Library has the perfect book club for you. Join in as dudes share, discuss and recommend their favorite books to other dudes. There will not be a pre-set reading list. The group is recommended for dudes, but all are welcome.

Color and Coffee  

• Second and fourth Fridays from 10-11:30 a.m.

• May 10 and 24

Color and Coffee is a morning to relax, color, be with others and enjoy a cup of coffee on the house. Coloring sheets, colored pencils and coffee will be available for participants.

Lunch & Learn series: Learn Tips for Healthy Aging 

• Tuesday, May 14 from 12-1 p.m.

We are all aging but how we do it is up to us. This workshop which will provide tips for healthy aging that include learning how to live a healthier lifestyle; move more; reduce salt, fat and sugar; manage chronic illnesses; and give back by volunteering.

These are a series of virtual workshops that feature a new topic each month related to Family and Consumer Sciences. Each workshop is part of the 2024 Extension at Home Series: Helping You Improve Your Life, brought to you by a collaboration of N.C. Cooperative Extension Agents and hosted by the Lewisville Branch Library.

Witchy Washi & Whatnot Crafts  

• Third Wednesdays from 10-11:30 a.m.

The monthly Witchy Washy & Whatnot Craft group is a great place to meet other crafters and learn to make all sorts of fun projects, many of which include the use of washi tape. Space and supplies are limited to first 12 registrants, so call the branch (336-703-2940) to reserve your spot.

Belly Dancing for Beginners 

• First Fridays at 11 a.m.

• May 17

Get your shimmy on. Learn the basic moves of this beautiful dance form as people of all ages come together to promote health, happiness and community. Suitable for all shapes, sizes and fitness levels. Wear comfy clothes and shoes. This is a free monthly class. Recommended for ages 18 and up but all ages are welcome.
