CLEMMONS — With prom behind us, the end of the 2023-24 school year is drawing ever closer.

AP exams are only a few days away, beginning Monday, May 6, and running for two weeks, finishing on May 17.

For many upperclassmen, as well as a good number of freshmen and sophomores, AP exams mark the beginning of the end of the school year. These exams, which they have prepared for diligently, are now over, and they can look forward to a much smoother and less stressful final few weeks of the school year. We are proud of their hard work and wish them the best for their results.

Best of luck to all those taking exams these next few weeks.

Yesterday, May 1, was also the commitment deadline for most colleges across the country. Congratulations to all seniors on their college decisions.

The Student Government Association (SGA) has been hard at work preparing its yearly fundraiser. This year, it benefits the River Oaks Community Church, where many students regularly park their cars during the school day. The Spring Fling fundraiser will take place on May 11, the day of River Oaks’s 5K run, and numerous West Forsyth Clubs will be in attendance with fun activities and games for all to enjoy. Come out and support your fellow Titans and community members.

Titan athletics have stayed hot recently.

The girls varsity soccer team shut out all three of their opponents last week, 9-0 against Parkland at home on April 22, 2-0 against North Davidson on the road on April 23 and 9-0 against Glenn on the road on April 24. The girls also visited Reagan on Monday and hosted Davie yesterday. They will face R.J. Reynolds and East Forsyth next week for their final regular season games.

While beating out North Surry 4-3 on the road on April 22, the varsity baseball team then suffered a tough 1-0 home loss to East Forsyth the following day. The players avenged themselves, however, by taking down the Eagles 4-1 in their house in their very next game on April 25. The boys also took a commanding 15-0 victory over R.J. Reynolds on Monday and played their final game of the regular season at home versus Mount Tabor on Tuesday. The varsity softball team won all four of their games last week, 9-8 at home against East Wilkes on April 22, 15-0 and 16-0 in their home doubleheader with Reynolds on April 23 and 12-1 at East Forsyth on April 25. The girls also took down Reynolds again at home 15-0 on Monday and hosted Davie on Tuesday for their final regular season game. The girls varsity lacrosse team won their final two games of the regular season, 19-5 at home against Davie on April 22 and 14-9 at home against Reynolds on April 25 to secure the conference championship. The girls are now guaranteed to move on to the state playoffs.

We’re almost there, Titans! Happy May!
