West Forsyth inducts latest athletic HOF class

CLEMMONS — Introducing the 2024 West Forsyth Athletic Hall of Fame inductees.
Scott Bilton: Bolton was the boys’ and girls’ soccer coach at West Forsyth from 2007-2023. His 2017 girls’ team won the school’s first soccer state championship.
Gray Bovender: Bovender played football, basketball and baseball at West Forsyth before graduating in 1991. He scored a touchdown in every football game in 1990. He was also a two-year starter at receiver at UNC Chapel Hill.
Greg Holt: Holt played baseball at West Forsyth. He graduated in 2007. Holt was a four-time all-state baseball player while at West. He played baseball at UNC Chapel Hill and was drafted in the 8th round of the 2011 major league baseball draft.
Chris Mackie: Mackie played baseball at West Forsyth. He graduated in 1979. Mackie hit .404 in baseball his senior year before going on to play at Western Carolina and Guilford College. He also played professional baseball in 1983 and 1984. Mackie was unable to attend the event over the weekend.
Brittany McKinney: McKinney played softball at West Forsyth and graduated in 2007. She was a four-time all-conference selection and three-time all-state in softball while at West. Brittany went to UNC Chapel Hill where she was the starting catcher.
Randy Pope: Pope served as the head baseball coach at West Forsyth from 1999-2013. His 2002 team was the state 4A runner-up. Over the years, his West teams made it to two final fours, four elite eights and six sweet 16s in the state playoffs.
Pat Spainhour: West Forsyth cheerleading coach from 1974 to 1990. Spainhour built West Forsyth cheerleading from the ground up and won state titles in 1987 and 1989. Her 1996 team placed 4th nationally and was featured on ESPN.
Johnny Stoutamire: Stoutamire played football at West Forsyth and graduated in 1974 graduate. Stoutamire was all-city, all-conference and all-northwest in football in 1974. He was an all-American in football at Livingstone College in 1977-1978. He played for the Buffalo Bills in 1978.
Hal Wray: Wray played soccer, wrestling, football and track at West Forsyth. Wray graduated in 1999. Wray was all-conference and all-region in soccer, wrestling and track while at West. He played soccer at UNC Chapel Hill. Wray is now an orthopedic surgeon in Forsyth County.
