Hanes named Clemmons Rotary November Student of the Month

CLEMMONS — Hannah Hanes has been recognized as the Rotary Club of Clemmons Student of the Month for November.
In nominating Hanes for Student of the Month, a West Forsyth High School official described her as follows: “Hannah will be the captain of the women’s soccer team this year. She is a model student, athlete and person. She is respected by both her peers, teachers and coaches. Hannah is extremely bright and will have multiple offers from high academic colleges this spring. Hannah has been and is currently part of multiple organizations at school.”
Hanes has a GPA of 4.5 and ranks 12th out in a class of 491. She is an AP Scholar with honors and member of the National Honor Society.
Hanes’ school club and community service activities include: as a member of the Key Club, she led community clean-ups, delivered care packages to the family shelter and sent letters to veterans while working alongside the local Kiwanis Club; as a member of the Girls Service Club, she led service projects including Red Cross Blood Drive and making gift boxes for assisted living residents; as a member of the National Honor Society she served as Titan Trainer for freshman orientation at West Forsyth High School: as a member of Students of Health Occupations of America (HOSA), she learned about career opportunities in healthcare and participated in a service project for the Ronald McDonald House.
She also is the founder and president of a Pickleball Club at West, where she leads instruction and organizes matches to introduce fellow students to the increasingly popular game.
Hanes has been a member of the West Forsyth varsity soccer team since 2021, that was the Central Piedmont Conference Champions in 2022, 2023 and 2024. She was named to the All-Conference and All-Regions teams in 2022, 2023 and 2024. She also was a member of the varsity indoor and outdoor track and field team 2021 and 2023 and a 4A state qualifier in the 500 meter in 2022.
She has played club soccer for the NC Fusion since 2021 and in 2023 qualified for the Elite Club National League (ECNL) U16 North American Cup in San Diego and in 2024 she qualified for Elite Club National League (ECNL) U17 Champions League in Seattle.
In addition to Hanes’s academic and athletic successes, she is a small business owner and creator for her company named Creations by HH, that sells handmade clothing and jewelry marketed through Instagram.
Hanes works as a teaching assistant at West Forsyth Christian Preschool where she interacts with children through games for 8 hours/week in after school care.
Her hobbies include traveling, hiking and pickleball.
After graduation she plans to attend either UNC or N.C. State and major in biology or genetics.
