November was an active and rewarding month for our club. We held membership meetings on Nov. 7 and 21.
At the first meeting, President Joel Schanker announced we now have 15 active members. The treasurer issued her report. A highway cleanup is scheduled for Dec. 28 at 9 a.m.
Members Michael Watson, Jim Brosovic and Ina Beavers attended the annual Fun Run at Morgan Elementary School on Nov. 15.
They manned the water station and gave out over 700 bottles of water to thirsty runners. Brosovic, Beavers and Steve Danner attended the Key Club meeting on Nov. 18 and were excited to meet our new co-sponsor Science and Math Teacher Shawn Horan.
Schanker and Thao Summerville visited the Twin City Kiwanis Club. They enjoyed the meeting and were impressed with the club’s emphasis on building membership and the management of their pancake fundraiser.
Our club’s pecan sales are going well. Our one-pound bags of Terri Lynn whole pecans are available at Piedmont Federal, Be Kind Coffee and Truist in Clemmons. We appreciate these businesses helping with our sales.
We are considering venues for our spaghetti meal fundraiser scheduled some time in January. The membership event Pancake Supper for the Trinity Elms Residents is set for Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. at the Trinity Elms Community Center.
It was approved to change the time of our Bingo game for the Trinity Elms Rehab Center residents. We are going to try for a Saturday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to see if attendance improves. A new member directory is in the works.
At our second meeting, we compiled and boxed the shelf stable items for our Thanksgiving dinner donations to some Morgan Elementary students’ families. The full meals with fresh turkey and pie were delivered to the school on Nov. 26.
