Couriering the area this week in 1979 — The fifth member of the Clemmons Community Development Council’s planning committee was elected unanimously at the CCDA’s monthly meeting. Mrs. Harriet Moody, a former member of the first Clemmons Planning Committee, was approved by council members.

The “Clemmons Triangle” property at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 158 and Hampton Road, was sold to Clemmons Triangle Properties.

James Robert Ogburn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ogburn of Clemmons, was named to the dean’s list at Lees-McRae College for the first semester.

Teresa Poindexter Utt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Poindexter of Clemmons, was named to the dean’s list at Wake Forest University for the fall semester.

Jennifer Temple, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Temple of Clemmons, was named to the dean’s list at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for the fall semester.

Wayne Wood, son of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Wood and a West Forsyth High School graduate, was named treasurer of the student affiliate chapter of the American Chemical Society at Western Carolina University.

The Rev. Dean Hamilton announced the opening of an Assembly of God Church in Clemmons.

Mike O’Briant, of Clemmons, was named head golf pro at the Colonial Country Club in Thomasville.

Sectional Center Manager-Postmaster Robert L. Hodges of Greensboro announced the appointment of Della H. Franklin as the new postmaster at the Lewisville Post Office.

The members of Immanuel Baptist Church in Clemmons honored their pastor, the Rev. Otis C. Clampitt and his family in honor of his 25^th anniversary as pastor of the church.

Gov. Jim Hunt named James E. “Jim” Humphreys Jr. of Clemmons to the Economic Development Board.

Clemmons Senior Citizens Club installed new officers and committee members at the VFW Post 9010 on Hampton Road. They were Merlie Lawson, Anna Chitteye, Ethel Brewer, Jewell Davis, Josephine Ferrari, Blanche Humpries, Sanford Cook, S.G. Wallace, Col. H.H.H. Clark, Burley S. Turner, Nadeina Buchanan, Myrtle Moser, Connie Linville, Edna Phelps and Chaplain, the Rev. John U. Phelps.

Tammy Garrison, a 1977 graduate of West Forsyth High School, was elected to the position of chairman of the High Point College Student Union.

Tim Cooper, a senior at Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville, was named to the All-American prep soccer squad by the National Soccer Association of America.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Thomas W. Spooner, son of Russ and Ann Spooner of Clemmons, reported for duty aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Sellers, home ported in Charleston, S.C.
