DivorceCare at Clemmons UMC

Clemmons United Methodist Church will offer a 14-week DivorceCare Series on Wednesdays beginning Sept. 7 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Ministry Center Room A-210.

DivorceCare is a safe place where caring people come together to help each other with the healing from the pain of separation or divorce.

This video-based support group program offers helpful counsel to manage the emotional turmoil that the participants are experiencing. It will also offer practical tools for decision-making.

Medicare Annual Open Enrollment Sessions

The Annual Medicare Open Enrollment period will take place from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7.

Annual enrollment assistance will be provided by volunteer and staff of the Shepherd’s Center of Greater Winston-Salem, the Forsyth County coordinating site for the North Carolina Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP). One-hour appointments will be offered during the period subject to the availability of counselors.

The open enrollment sessions will assist Medicare beneficiaries review their Medicare Advantage plans and Medicare drug plans assist in making the necessary changes for 2023.

Certified Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) counselors will be available to assist in the enrollment process.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, Medicare beneficiaries in Forsyth County will be assisted in-person as much as possible or through telephone or other virtual means during the Annual Enrollment period. Some referrals may by made to the SHIIP state office in Raleigh.

Appointments must be made by calling the Shepherd’s Center at 336-748-0217 during weekdays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

First Responders Information Event at Shiloh Lutheran Church

Shiloh Lutheran Church will be having a First Responders Information Event on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 1-3 p.m. Representatives from the local fire department, sheriff’s office and EMS will be available to answer questions and demonstrate their equipment. Shiloh Lutheran Church is located at 703 Lewisville-Vienna Road in Lewisville

Historic Bethabara Park presents Boo! at Bethabara

Celebrate Halloween by attending Boo! At Bethabara on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 1:30-4:30 p.m.

Guests will enjoy hearing spooky tales by acclaimed storyteller Cynthia Moore Brown (recommended for children under 12); watching a hauntingly fun performance by the Felt and Soul Puppet Theater; having their face painted; and taking a ghostly walk up to God’s Acre (recommended for ages 12 and older).

Pre-registration is required for the ghost walk and can be made by contacting Diana Overbey at dianao@cityofws.org or 336-397-7587. Registrations will be taken through Oct. 24 or until all spots have been filled. Admission is free.
