Zuri Sweatt was recognized recently as the Rotary Club of Clemmons Student of the Month for March.
Sweatt is an excellent student with a GPA of 4.28 and is 93rd in a class of 567 students. She is a Crosby Scholar and this year’s West Forsyth president, a member of the National Honor Society and National Society of High School Scholars.
She is also involved in other school related activities including vice president of National Society for Black Engineers; serves as the West Forsyth representative of the Human Race Relations Committee and member of Forsyth County Teen Advisory Board.
Giving back to the community is very important to Sweatt and she has been involved in several activities including helping the homeless at Tent City in Charlotte; assisted Cook Elementary School to help the school’s community food pantry; assisted in packing care packages for American troops overseas; assisted with the annual Thanksgiving Community Awareness activity for the homeless in Winston Salem; bakes desserts for SECU House and delivers them to ill patients, and partnered with the Chris Paul Family Foundation to help bag food for the homeless.
Sweatt has received several awards including inaugural 2022 Queen Juneteenth and four-year scholarship award; National African American Academic Achievement Award; National Princess Teen of the Year Award; National Princess Community Service Award and Scholarship; Chris Paul Foundation Leadership Certificate; Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Emotional Intelligence Award; Scholastic Art and Writing Award; Triad Cultural Art Internship Award; WSFCS Fresh Voices Rising Book — Inside Cover Artist; Reigning 2023 Miss Taste of Charlotte Teen and Scholarship Award; SADD Nation Certificate of Appreciation and Dedication Award; Sandy Hook Promise Service Award; Jabberwock Talent Presentation first place award.
Sweatt also finds time to work outside of school and community activities where she has worked as an intern for Robinson and Lawing Law Firm and Triad Culture Art Center. She also has worked as a runway model in New York, Charlotte and Winston-Salem.
She also started a social impact initiative called Inspire, Encourage, Uplift.
Sweatt is considering attending UNC Chapel Hill, Howard University and Spelman College and wants to major in political science.
