Children’s programs:

Children’s story times: Join in for great books, finger plays, songs and crafts. Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. for toddlers (ages 18 months -3 years) and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. for preschoolers (ages 3-5).

Story Time at Night: Join in at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 22, for stories, fingerplays, songs and activities. Open to all ages. Story Time at Night takes place on the fourth Monday of every month.

Adult programs:

Those Amazing Honey Bees!: At 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, get the buzz on honey bees from Master Beekeeper Seyed-Ali Mousavi. Visit or call the Clemmons Branch Library at 336-703-2920 to register.

Spring Cleaning and Organizing: At 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, Wake Forest Museum of Anthropology Japan Outreach Coordinator Nana Watanobe will present the latest organization tips and trends for successful spring cleaning. Through talking about the Japanese housing system and recent decluttering trends in her native Japan, she will introduce some useful tips for spring cleaning, specifically touching on the popular “KonMari method” coined by Marie Kondo.

Book Lovers’ Club: The Clemmons Branch Library’s Book Lovers’ Club meets every first Monday of the month (unless the date falls on a holiday). Join this dynamic group for a great discussion of a selected title. Free and open to the public. The next meeting will be on May 6 at 6:30 p.m. with a discussion of “Glass Houses” by Louise Penny.

Clemmons Cookin’ Club: If you enjoy cooking, come join the Clemmons Cookin’ Club. Come in and choose a recipe from a pre-selected book and a copy will be made for you. Bring in the finished dish on the day of the meeting to share with other members. Expand your palate by tasting all the recipes, connect with people who enjoy cooking, and discuss the recipes. Call 336-703-2920 if you have questions. The program will last about one hour. The next meeting is at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, in the auditorium at 3554 Clemmons Road and the club will be cooking pasta recipes. Visit or call the library for more information.

Forsyth Republican Women to meet

The Forsyth County Republican Women will hold their next meeting on Thursday, April 25, at the Mi Pueblo Restaurant at 644 S. Stratford Road in Winston-Salem. Those planning to eat should arrive at 5:30 p.m., and the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. The speaker for the evening will be Aaron Berlin who is the chairman of the Forsyth County GOP. Easter egg hunt

First Christian Church of Clemmons will be having a Easter egg hunt for ages 2 to 11 from 10 a.m. to noon on April 20. Refreshments provided

Easter sunrise service

First Christian Church of Clemmons will be having an Easter sunrise service at 6:15 a.m. on April 21. Pancake breakfast following.

Shallowford Presbyterian Tenebrae service

Shallowford Presbyterian Church will offer a service of Tenebrae at 7:30 p.m. on Good Friday, April 19. The service includes gradually diminishing light through the extinguishing of candles, scripture readings, and the singing of hymns and anthems to mark the events of Jesus’ trial, passion and burial. The outdoor Shallowford Labyrinth is open daily to the community and the indoor Shallowford “Stations of the Cross” will be open through April 20 for walking and prayer during church hours and by appointment. Shallowford Presbyterian is located at 1200 Lewisville-Clemmons Road near U.S. 421 Exit 242, next to Kaplan’s. New Philadelphia Moravian celebrates Holy Week

Holy Week this year begins on Palm Sunday, April 14. During morning worship, the service will celebrate the coming of our Lord and Savior.

The Holy Week journey will continue as with reading services each evening, Monday through Friday, beginning at 7 p.m.. Holy Communion will be celebrated on Maundy Thursday and a Tenebrae Service on Good Friday.

Hope Moravian Church chicken pie sale

The Women’s Fellowship of Hope Moravian Church will sponsor two chicken pie sales from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, in the church fellowship hall.

The made-from-scratch all-meat chicken pies are available in two sizes (small, $5 and large, $10). Preorders for pickup may be placed by calling 336-765-8017.

Master Gardener plant sale

The Forsyth County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers will hold their annual plant sale at the Arboretum at Tanglewood Park from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May, 4. Enjoy the beauty of the gardens while making your way to one of Forsyth County’s premier plant sales. Selections include unique annuals and herbaceous perennials, as well as flowering shrubs and trees, such as native plants, milkweed, herbs, vegetables, and more.

This event is one of the major fundraisers for the Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program. Proceeds from your purchase help maintain The Arboretum and Gardens at Tanglewood Park and fund the monthly Adult Education lecture series held at the Arboretum office throughout the year.

Jam sessions

Farmington Community Center at 1723 Farmington Road in Mocksville hosts a country music and gospel only jam session every Thursday night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The center also hosts a bluegrass jam session every Monday night from 7-9 p.m. Bring whatever instrument you play and join the fun. Cover charge for listeners $2, players are free.

GriefShare program at Clemmons UMC

Clemmons United Methodist Church will have a series of GriefShare, a grief support group every Monday night at 7 p.m. in the Ministry Center. Victory on the Frontline Church

Coffee, juice and pastries are served every Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. Children’s and adult Sunday school starts at 10 a.m.

Worship service with Pastor Michael Duffield begins at 11 a.m. The Wednesday evening “Just As I Am” casual and family service has expanded. Dinner is served at 6:20 p.m., followed by a Bible study led by Pastor Mike from 7-7:45 p.m. Also in the children’s church is a New Kids Program by Tamara Koontz. All people of Christian faith are encouraged to attend. The Clemmons Kiwanis Club meets at the Trinity Elms Health & Rehab facility at 7449 Fair Oaks Dr. in Clemmons. The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. Meeting lasts one hour. Call 703- 2921 for any other information.

Clemmons Civic Club

Clemmons Civic Club, one of the areas oldest community organizations, is now open to both men and women interested in serving the Clemmons community. Meeting are held in the civic club building on Middlebrook Drive the fourth Thursday of the month beginning with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by an informative program.  Your first meal is complimentary. Join a community post that supports our veterans and the town of Lewisville. Responsible for the veteran’s memorial and Memorial Day event at the Shallowford Square in Lewisville.
