Children’s programs
Children’s story times: Join the library for great books, finger plays, songs and crafts. Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. for toddlers (ages 18 months-3 years), Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. for preschoolers (ages 3-5).
Papercrafterday: Join in all day on Saturday, March 14, to create papercrafts. Try your hand at origami, collage, or scrapbooking. All supplies provided. All ages welcome.
Tinker Tuesday: At 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, make creations out of Legos, K’nex, Lincoln Logs, and Marble Maze materials and see if you can solve this month’s building challenge. All ages welcome. Small parts may not be suitable for small children.
Very Hungry Caterpillar Day: Join the library at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, for an afternoon of crafts and activities in honor of Eric Carle’s classic book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.”
Adult programs
Book Lovers’ Club: The Clemmons Branch Library’s Book Lovers’ Club meets every first Monday of the month (unless the date falls on a holiday). Join this dynamic group for a great discussion of a selected title. Free and open to the public. The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on April 6, with a discussion of “The Wife Between Us” by Greer Hendricks.
Clemmons Cookin’ Club: If you enjoy cooking, come join the Clemmons Cookin’ Club. Come in and choose a recipe from a pre-selected book and a copy will be made for you. Bring in the finished dish on the day of the meeting to share with other members. Expand your palate by tasting all the recipes, connect with people who enjoy cooking, and discuss the recipes. Call the library at 336-703-2920 if you have questions. The program will last about one hour. The next meeting is at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, in the auditorium at 3554 Clemmons Road. Annual Shepherd’s Center Used Book Sale
The Shepherd’s Center of Greater Winston-Salem will hold its 33rd Annual Used Book Sale from 9 a.m.–9 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, and Friday, May 8, and from 8 a.m.–2 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 (half-price on all items). The book sale is one of the largest in the state. Free parking and admission.
The sale will be held in the Education Building at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds. Entrance for parking is through Gate 5 from Deacon Boulevard. Thousands of used books and other items will be available at exceptional prices.
This is truly a book sale with a purpose. All proceeds of the sale benefit the programs and services provided for older adults in our community. During 2019, the Shepherd’s Center provided services to more than 6,000 individuals. More than 400 volunteers provided in excess of 40,000 hours of service in our community.
The Shepherd’s Center’s mission is to support and promote successful aging through direct services, educational, volunteer and support programs for older adults.

Gospel singing
Jazz worship service
Shallowford Presbyterian Church will offer a jazz worship service of praise and prayer at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 22. Rev. Jeff Sockwell will lead the service, which will include communion, hymns, gospel songs, and spirituals for congregation and choir. Musicians for the service will be Patrick Lawrence, string bass; Karen Kendrick, piano; Larry Carman, drums; Dave Reid, clarinet and sax; with Cathy Watson, vocalist. On view on Shallowford’s Art Wall through April, the Creative Works of artist Elizabeth Reid and members of the Reid Family. CPC hosts blood drive
Clemmons Presbyterian Church will host a blood drive from 2:30-6:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 12.
Walk-ins can be accommodated, but things run more smoothly for individual donors and the drive as a whole if you have an appointment. You may get an appointment from blood drive coordinator Sam Boger at 336-830-4034 or at the Red Cross website www.redcrossblood.org.

Shredding event
‘Welcome to Medicare’ workshop
The Shepherd’s Center of Greater Winston-Salem and the Forsyth County Library are offering a workshop for individuals turning 65 (as well as those who already have Medicare) to learn about the different insurance options available, including “Original Medicare,” Medicare prescription drug programs, Medicare supplements and Medicare Advantage plans.
The session will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 23, at the Southside Branch Library at 3185 Buchanan Street in Winston-Salem.
The session is designed to explain and clarify the Medicare sign-up process and educate attendees on how to make smart choices. Trained Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) counselors will be on hand to answer general questions.

Hope Moravian Church chicken pie sale
The Women’s Fellowship of Hope Moravian Church will sponsor a chicken pie sale from 10 a.m.-noon on Wednesday, April 8, in the church fellowship hall.
The all-meat chicken pies are made from scratch and are available in two sizes (small, $5 and large, $10).

Bermuda Run Garden Club Annual Geranium Sale
If you are looking for signs of spring, just talk with a member of the Bermuda Run Garden Club. The Garden Club’s Annual Geranium Sale is an event that our community looks forward to each year; and after such cold and rainy weather, this year is certainly no exception. Club members will take prepaid orders until March 23, and the plants will be delivered to the parking lot of the Bermuda Run Post Office on April 8. Customers may choose 6½-inch pots ($10.50 each) or 10-inch pots ($15) each. Color choices include red, hot pink, white, salmon and violet (deep fuchsia).
Profits generated by the geranium sale help Bermuda Run Garden Club provide a variety of projects and assistance that benefit various charitable organizations in Davie County.
The beautiful, healthy geraniums, which are locally grown, will be in bloom in time to decorate baskets, gardens, patios, and porches for Easter. Contact any member of the Bermuda Run Garden Club or Linda Ernst at 336-940-6705 or lernst2@triad.rr.com to place orders before March 23.
Spring plant sale
GriefShare at Clemmons UMC
Clemmons United Methodist Church continues its 13-week series of GriefShare, a grief recovery seminar and group support group, at 7 p.m. each Monday night in the ministry center. If you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a loved one, whether it be a parent, child, spouse or sibling, you are invited to join. Grief is easier when shared among people who care. Jam sessions
Farmington Community Center at 1723 Farmington Road in Mocksville hosts a country music and gospel only jam session every Thursday night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The center also hosts a bluegrass jam session every Monday night from 7-9 p.m. Bring whatever instrument you play and join the fun. Cover charge for listeners $2, players are free.
Kiwanis Club
The Clemmons Kiwanis Club meets at the Trinity Elms Health & Rehab facility at 7449 Fair Oaks Dr. in Clemmons. The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. Meeting lasts one hour. Call 703- 2921 for any other information.
Clemmons Civic Club
Clemmons Civic Club, one of the areas oldest community organizations, is now open to both men and women interested in serving the Clemmons community. Meeting are held in the civic club building on Middlebrook Drive the fourth Thursday of the month beginning with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by an informative program.
