CLEMMONS — Daylight savings has come and gone, and with it has come warmer weather and more sunshine in the village.

The performing arts department is hard at work, setting up to put on its production of “Anastasia” next week. The show unofficially opens on Wednesday, March 20, where the Titans will be hosting more than 400 students from fellow drama and chorus departments across the district for a matinee performance.

The show opens to the general public the following day, March 21, and runs through Saturday, March 23. The show features an unprecedented double cast of the lead roles, with each cast portraying their characters and the story in a slightly different way. Each show is very different despite having the same overall plot. The performing arts department highly recommends coming to see both casts perform; the cast lead by junior Addison Nix will perform for general admission on March 22 and the cast lead by early graduate senior Reese Gardner on March 21 and 23.

With the spring weather, the Titan athletics have been among the busiest students on campus recently, with the teams finally getting into the bulk of their seasons.

The girls varsity soccer team had a rough past week with 5-0 and 4-0 shutout losses at Hough on March 5 and against Heritage on March 9, sandwiching a 2-2 tie at home versus Apex on March 8. The girls have kept pushing however, facing off against their first conference opponent, Mount Tabor, at home last night, March 13.

The varsity baseball team, on the other hand, has found success this past week, with back-to-back wins over Davie, 10-0 on the road on March 5, and 3-0 at home on March 11. The boys also visited R.J. Reynolds on Tuesday evening, March 12, and host the Demons again tonight for a rematch. Despite losing its most recent game 1-0 at West Rowan on March 8, the varsity softball team has also made an impressive run in the past week, winning all its previous games: 18-0 at Starmount on March 5 and 16-0 and 15-0 in their home doubleheader with Parkland on March 7. The girls also hosted Glenn and Montour on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, respectively, and host bitter rivals Reagan tonight in the teams’ first matchup of the season.

The boys varsity lacrosse team has struggled, losing 13-8 versus Glenn on March 5, 16-8 versus Southeast Guilford on March 7 and 16-3 versus Reagan on March 8, all of which were home games. They visited Davie on Tuesday and Grimsley on Wednesday and face off against R.J. Reynolds on the road tomorrow for their next game. The girls varsity lacrosse team, on the flipside, has been quite successful, with wins over all Glenn and Southeast Guilford on March 5 and 7. They took on Davie on Tuesday, Page on Wednesday and face Reynolds tomorrow with the boys.

Have a great rest of your week Titans and enjoy the extra daylight.
