The Centenary United Methodist Church, located at 5280 Hampton Road, Clemmons, will celebrate the Dr. Martin Luther King Holiday during its Sunday worship service on January 14, at 10:45 am. The guest speaker will be Antoinette Kerr.

Ms. Kerr, who grew up in St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church in Lexington, is a nonprofit trainer, news correspondent, and author. The Lexington native spent her youth living in pockets of economically-distressed neighborhoods. She credits a family filled with activists for sparking her compassion for people and passion for storytelling. Antoinette studied journalism and African American history at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she began researching and writing about the influence of age, race, gender and gender on social policy as editor of The Black Ink. This research earned her the Earnest H. Abernathy Chancellors Award for Excellence in Student Publications.
